The Wind Wolves Preserve, so named for the "undulating grasses that resemble running animals" was purchased in 1996 by the Wildland Conservancy. The preserve sprawls over 85,000 acres and is home to a wild elk herd. The trails, a mix of dirt roads and side trails, are vast. I felt incredibly at peace, refreshed, and inspired while here, watching the clouds move across the mountains, creating a world of light and shadow.
